This is an all metal hotend upgrade kit for MK 10 style extruders. Thermal barrier tube is made from 2 different materials. The lower thermal break is made from stainless steel, and the colder upper part is made from aluminum. Stainless steel was used for thermal break because it offers low thermal conductivity, and aluminum was used for the upper portion because it has a lot better thermal conductivity, to carry away any heat from the filament. All metal hotend will let you print at much higher temperature than possible with original PTFE lined one. Another benefit of an all metal hotend design is more consistent melt chamber control. During slow extrusion rate, in PTFE lined hotend, transition zone from solid to molten plastic tends to creep upward creating more stringy prints. With all metal design a transition zone is always constant, being located right at the heat break. With fast extrusion rate, PTFE tube doesn't have enough thermal conductivity to properly melt all the plastic coming out. On MK10 extruders that limitation happens around 60 mm/s, depending on nozzle size. All metal hotend solves this problem, plastic is surrounded by thermally conductive nozzle throughout its length.

Orifice size available: .2mm, .3mm, .4mm .5mm, .6mm, .8mm, 1mm, 1.2mm

      Great service and nice hardware

The good folks at Micro Swiss helped me find the right hot end for my old Qidi X-pro. Installation was easy and it works great. (Also, some folks say they have problems printing PLA with the all-metal hot ends. I have had no problems at all.)

Micro Swiss always coming out on top.

As usual no issues. Ordering is easy. Shipping is quick and everything arrives packed well and good condition. Even get a sticker!! Prices are a bit high but the quality is good and times are tough.

      Works Great

I installed two of these in my FlashForge Dreamer about a year ago, and they're fantastic! Printing with PETG with the original hotends was almost impossible due to the PTFE liners always breaking down. Now I can print with PETG all day long! I was initially worried about having to figure out new temperatures for PLA, but I basically didn't change anything in my slicer settings and PLA prints just fine. The only downside I've noticed is that there's a bit more ringing in my prints due to the additional extruder/carriage weight (though the Dreamer always has pretty bad ringing anyway). At this point I can't imagine going back to the original hotends!
