My FrankenEnder is Complete.

I had a list of upgrades I wanted to do to an Ender 3 v1, when I got my confidence up to try some of the things that take a working familiarity of the printer to do. This hotend and a new cooling duct are the last items on the list. I've had a direct drive extruder for a while, but the MicroSwiss all metal hotend is a thing of beauty, and I wanted one to finish things up.

Great setup

Been printing with PLA+ and PETG for a year. Working great so far. Modified my fan case and ducting for the cr10 pro v2. Also upgraded the firmware. https://youtu.be/R1FSKbOGQ9E Setup

Still working out to print tpu as it comes loose on the dd extruder.

Over my expectation, the printing result is perfect, very impressed.

I modified my CR10S-Pro V2 to direct drive by using original stock parts and bracket from Thingiverse. It works and better than original Bowden method. After a few months, I bought MicroSwiss Direct Drive Extruder Kit when it was on sale. I didn’t install it immediately because I don’t know if it’s worth replacing MicroSwiss from my customized DD, because it worked well already.
Well, I decided to try MS and install it. The installation is not difficult but need to print its fan shroud first. Even though the document mentions offset x=-5 and y =-10, but my case it’s different. I use Klipper and set offset by using this command,

[delayed_gcode welcome]
initial_duration: 5.
gcode:
SET_GCODE_OFFSET x=0 y=7

And, I added extra the flow and line width for initial layer to get better result.
Overall, I was so impressed that the printing quality is so good, no string at all, even use the retraction settings 0.2mm, 5mm/s. I also print it at speed 100mm/s and acceleration 2,000mm/s2, the result is still perfect.
I strongly recommend you should have it!

Great Product NOT PLUG &PLAY

The Extruder is a great product and works like it should. The fan duct they point to is okay for the CR10s pro V2 I really didn't care for it and found one in the comments that is slightly better. The hardest part of the whole thing was finding a copy of firmware that was usable with the correct offset. I ended up on Github through Tinny Machines. The direction are not really all that clear on how to complete that portion. I really wish I would have had a better understanding or better instructions on updating the firmware.

Over all I'm still happy that I put it on. It has solved the problems I was having with the bowden tube and jamming.
