Micro Swiss NG™ Direct Drive Extruder

This extruder overcomes the shortcomings of all current counterparts on the market, to create an optimal printing experience for everyone.

With the Bevel Gear design, we are able to achieve the industry shortest filament path (less than 41mm). The unique motor placement allows for highly compact, low overhang design.  This further increases system rigidity.

Features:

  • Lightweight
  • 3:1 Gear ratio
  • Adaptable to wide range of 3D Printers
  • Hardened steel, precision cut Dual Gear drive
  • Industry shortest, highly constrained, TwinClad XT™ plated filament path
  • Bevel Gear system allows a low overhang extruder mount
  • Integrated with a Micro Swiss All Metal Hotend

    NG Linear Rail Extruder/Hot End

By installing this Extruder/Hot End I saved over 150g of weight over my old Hot end with a Satsana duct with the old Micro Swiss linear rail mounting plate and stock extruder stepper motor..
I'm trying to push my E3 v2 a little faster. This is my 3rd Micro Swiss extruder mount over the . First was one to use with rollers and transition to direct drive. The second with linear bearings. This one was mostly for the weight savings and the extruder can push more filament at higher volumes. So far I have reached 300mm/sec with good results. I did however print a duct assembly that uses a 5015 blower fan instead of the stock 4010 blower unit for better part cooling and am using a solid copper heat block.
All of the Micro Swiss extruders are top notch.

    Great device

I'm very satisfy of this device, all works fine, both for installation and for use. No surprise.

Reasonable extruder that could have been exceptional.

I do like the NG extruder and I get really great print quality from it, but I have a love-hate relationship with it. The build quality is great but it has one major flaw: the melt zone is significantly wider than the inlet throat which means that pretty much impossible to unclog if the nozzle gets blocked by impurities and I constantly get filament stuck if I'm not careful when pulling it out.
The only way to clear a nozzle blockage is total disassembly. I'm used to being able to perform a cold pull to clear nozzle blockages and that's impossible to do with this extruder/hot end combo. I've had to disassemble it multiple times due to filament getting stuck (bad luck, I know) but the juice stopped being worth the squeeze. I've given up and went with an H2 instead.
Such a pity because I really wanted to like this extruder.

The NG works like a charm, in particular with linear rails!
