Micro Swiss NG™ Direct Drive Extruder

This extruder overcomes the shortcomings of all current counterparts on the market, to create an optimal printing experience for everyone.

With the Bevel Gear design, we are able to achieve the industry shortest filament path (less than 41mm). The unique motor placement allows for highly compact, low overhang design.  This further increases system rigidity.

Bring an Old Printer back to life

I wanted a big build volume box printer, but with new technology like direct drive and micro swiss is easily the best option, easy to follow instructions and plug and play

Good product

The NG was a direct drop in replacement for the factory extruder

Good product. Product was sent 👌
Works very well and installed very easy

Same, No Quarrel w/ Metal Parts

Have been a MicroSwiss customer since 2017, metal components and replacement stepper are as expected, but plan to print/design plastic parts.
The provided BLTouch bracket sagged after 3 weeks of PETG printing/36 hours of ABS printing.
Again, just pre plan to make or source your own, and all will be well.

Neptune X (Ender 5 clone) works too!

The Elegoo Neptune X is essentially an Ender 5 clone. After some conversations with Micro-Swiss, I ordered the NG Direct Drive Extruder and installed it. Overall, it was pretty simple with a few exceptions.

First, the BL-Touch sensor I had was previously mounted on the right side of the print head. This moves it to the left side. That led to some really puzzling times in trying to figure out why auto-level was not working. I finally realized that I could not use the actual offset from the nozzle for the X offset. If it were set to 30mm or higher, auto-level failed. Setting it to 29mm works. The probe is slightly off center, but that is not a big issue as it otherwise works.

Second, the instructions for the Ender 5 were not quite the same for the Neptune X. I finally found the e-steps setting and got it configured.

Third, the BL-Touch sensor is sitting above the nozzle. The first time it tried to level, the Z axis kept trying to raise the print bed and it ran into the nozzle and stalled. I had to quickly cut power and figure out the offset setting.

None of these are problems with the NG Direct Drive Extruder though. It is performing well. I can finally print TPU. Now if I can get the bed adhesion to work well with tall, thin objects, that will be great. Again, not an NG problem, but there is a learning curve.

I am really happy with this upgrade. My prints are much better than with the Bowden tube setup replaced by this. I am glad Micro-Swiss came out with this.
